Benefits of this fruit; you need to know this.

While it’s true that guava has an unmistakable aroma, it’s a fruit that offers countless health benefits. In addition to minerals and vitamins, it also contains considerable amounts of fiber.

Benefits of guava

Weight loss

Due to its high fiber content, it helps increase satiety and delays carbohydrate absorption. It also prevents glucose spikes (which promote fat storage) and constipation.

Improves the immune system

It has about four times more  vitamin C  than an orange. This helps strengthen the immune system and guarantees protection against infections, the flu, and colds.

Guava is good for diabetics

Guava has a low glycemic index and is rich in fiber. These factors help  prevent glucose spikes , which must be closely controlled in patients with diabetes.

Prevents cancer

Guava contains a combination of vitamin C, lycopene, quercetin, and polyphenols. All of these compounds are potent antioxidants, making it a powerful food for preventing various types of cancer, including prostate, breast, skin, colon, and lung cancer.

Anti-aging

The vitamins A and C, lycopene, carotene, and other antioxidants present in the fruit protect the body against  free radical damage , which leads to premature aging, as well as the formation of wrinkles and fine lines. Consuming guava also promotes cell renewal.

Heart health

Potassium is an important nutrient for heart and blood vessel health, and is abundant in fruit. Its consumption helps improve the body’s sodium-potassium balance;  it lowers blood pressure  in hypertensive patients,  triglycerides  , and bad cholesterol (LDL). At the same time, it increases good cholesterol (HDL), thereby preventing a number of cardiovascular diseases in which these can be risk factors.

Improving eye health

Guava’s high  vitamin A content  is extremely important for eye health: it prevents macular degeneration, as well as the development of cataracts and night blindness.

Promotes fetal development

For pregnant women, guava can be an excellent option because it contains  folic acid , essential for the development of the fetus’s nervous system.
